Montessori 101 for Early Childhood Educators
Friday, March 05 | 04:30 PM - 05:15 PM
Session 2: Workshops
Join us to discover the basic tenets of Montessori—a philosophy of education as relevant today as it was when it was developed more than 100 years ago. We’ll explore its foundation in education for peace and social justice, the importance of the mixed-aged classroom, and how Montessori supports the development of order, concentration, coordination, and independence. We will also discuss the Montessori “3-period lesson” across all curricular areas as it relates to brain science and best practices in teaching and learning. Special emphasis will be given to the Early Childhood student.
Ayana Crawford is AMS school accreditation manager. She has nearly 20 years of experience in Montessori education as a lead classroom guide, school administrator, athletic and instructional coach, and Person of Color Affinity Group chair. AMS-credentialed (Early Childhood).
