Navigating Gender & Sexuality Diversity with Your Students
Wednesday, March 20 | 01:00 PM - 06:00 PM
Because Montessori education focuses on the development of the whole child, we are uniquely positioned to support the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical aspects of students’ gender identity and sexual-identity development. Using the fundamental principles of Montessori education and the Gender and Sexuality Diversity Framework, you will engage in hands-on activities to explore values, practices, programs, and policies related to gender and sexuality diversity in Early Childhood, Elementary, and Middle School classrooms. This interactive session will offer an opportunity to work in pairs, trios, and small groups, and to practice self-reflection and resource sharing. You will walk away with the concepts, language, and skills necessary for helping students navigate this critical area of development, and for creating inclusive, respectful communities for all.
Please bring a hard copy your school’s mission statement with you.
